AGRI TRADING & LOGISTICS

Pan Ocean’s agri-trading business

aims to create a new corporate value by integrating its shipping and trading experiences, combined with the parent company Harim Group’s demand for stable grain supply and its know-how as a heavy buyer of grain.

Successfully Settling down into the Agri-Trading Industry

Our advance into the agri-trading & logistics business will provide a momentum for expanding our reach into trading and logistics sectors beyond shipping services. We successfully inaugurated the agri-trading business by selling more than 3.0 million tons of corn, soybean, wheat, dried distiller’s grains, soybean meal, and palm kernel expeller annually after launching a dedicated organization. We have also achieved another key milestone by expanding beyond Korea and entering the markets of China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and Malaysia within a relatively short period. We will continue to develop new markets including Thailand and Indonesia for sustaining growth.

Building a Stable Supply Chain

Our entrance into the agri-trading business has a significant meaning on a national level, as over 85% of domestic grain consumption relies on imports. Particularly, the rate of dependence on imports of wheat, corn, and soybean, except for rice, amounts to 97%. This unfavorable condition is mainly attributable to the absence of national grain traders. Therefore, our agri-trading business will become a future growth engine that can correlate to government’s food security policies. To accelerate its agri-trading business, Pan Ocean acquired an equity interest in EGT, a grain export terminal on the U.S. West Coast, in September 2020. Through this investment, Pan Ocean has strengthened its position as a major supplier and will continue to reinforce its global trading routes and build a solid foundation for sustained business expansion.
